Inspiration The inspiration/motivation to create this wallpaper was, with all honesty, my disappointment with the Harper government here in Canada. I'm not going to write an essay here explaining what I don't like about the actions of the Conservative majority, because that would take too long and it's subjective anyway. Suffice to say that I'm not happy with the government and this is one of my many ways of expressing that.
On top of that, I'm also frustrated by society for being so benign about the short-sighted, non-progressive and undemocratic behaviours of their governments. All over the world there are governments acting selfishly and wastefully – with money, environmental resources and lives to name a few.
The Guy Fawkes mask is a tribute to the man himself, who was part of a plot to overthrow King James I, as well as the protestors last year who sported a mask on the streets. I loved that. Whenever I see this mask, however, I think of V for Vendetta. That movie was a major inspiration for this (and the source of the quote). Every time I see that movie, I think it's a little closer to what the world could become.
Technique Simple process. Started with the mask, added some text, rearranged a bit. Felt good.
I don't know. Bullet proof isn't the same as invincable, and it almost makes me feel like bullet proof is trying to say it is invincable.also, you can be immune when your shot at, but still not immune to being shot down. It's kind of like a squar is a rectangle, but not al rectangles are squars. You are trying to make a rectangle both, but you need to make a set of parellel sides shorter, or consintrate the idea of it, into something more over all true. Something more like Ideas are invincable, or unharmable, in an over all way of saying you can't harm them. but I could have just miss interperated your intentions. I don't know.
I’m frustrated by society for being so benign over the democratic behaviour of government. I think people should stop and question it, and say “This is nothing but mob rule, it’s a bad thing, let’s abolish democracy” :/
Thursday night I saw Fred Eaglesmith in concert. He's a Canadian musician, maybe you've heard of him? Anyways, he made a few political comments between songs, including something along the lines of "Your Right is our Left." I don't know much about the Canadian government, but the American government is rather unsatisfactory as well and I hope both our countries change that soon.
Hmm. Well, I'd consider a few things either from the movie itself, or your Guy Fawkes face here. In the movie, V's symbol looks very... uhm... graffiti-like. Also, I'm thinking of that small girl writing it on a wall... so, you could find a font resembling that, maybe dripping paint from the bottoms. Using gradient wisely, the black can fade to a dark red, to hint at the fight behind the words. If you consider the Guy Fawkes face, rather, I would choose a font that is very sharp, as if it was traced with a sword.
The font you chose is way too stylish, and that kind of writing seems the typical modern teenager handwriting, trying to look "cool". it doesn't seem to fit, to me.
(: no worries. I looked into it back when I wanted to do a wallpaper pack, too.
