Description
This is part of my collection of past digital art – deviations that I don't consider to be of significant artistic value, but are part of my journey as an artist.
Inspiration
I took this picture back in August, and have finally worked up the confidence to put it on dA. Well, that doesn't sound right. I looked at it as I was going through the shoot, and I thought it was a great capture, but not quite enough.
But it's been floating around my unpublished folder ... just begging to be uploaded. So I've given in.
I like this shot because it feels unique. And it makes me proud of where I live – that I can just run down a hill and be in a field with all sorts of scenery. Anyways, I think that the macro/silhouette style is kind of cool, and it was a lot of fun to shoot. (Although the hay got really scratchy.)
This picture represents the loneliness I seem to feel at the end of summer. Well, perhaps loneliness isn't the right word.. but not quite sadness either. Just a kind of ache, that another summer is over and life goes on.
It's hard to explain.
And I'm hoping this picture will help explain how I feel.
I feel really young. I don't know why.
I guess I am.
Technique
While I was out taking pictures, I stood against a haybale and was immediately intrigued by the texture of the hay. This piece was sticking out, so I leaned in close and took the shot. For you city folks who haven't a clue what this is, it's a strand of hay silhouetted in front of the setting sun. I don't know what specific type of plant it is; directly left of the frame is the rest of the haybale.
This wasn't a very complicated shot. It was taken on impulse, and I think creativity wormed its way in there somewhere, but I'm not sure.
The contrast of light and dark is really emphasized. Looking back, I'm not sure how I came up with this idea.
On a side note, we've finally got snow, everyone!
Rural Ontario is white, white, white! In fact, today is a snow day.
I feel bad for the people that live in Florida and don't know what a snow day is. It's basically when the weather is so bad that roads are unsafe and buses are cancelled. Win.

amazing shot of course.. it reminds me of the Labyrith with David Bowie... dunno why. that's a compliment if you weren't sure.(^_^)
