This is part of my collection of past digital art – deviations that I don't consider to be of significant artistic value, but are part of my journey as an artist.
Inspiration All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go I'm standin' here outside your door I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin', it's early morn The taxi's waitin', he's blowin' his horn Already I'm so lonesome I could die
So kiss me and smile for me Tell me that you'll wait for me Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane I don't know when I'll be back again Oh, babe, I hate to go
Now the time has come to leave you One more time, oh, let me kiss you And close your eyes and I'll be on my way
Dream about the days to come When I won't have to leave alone About the times that I won't have to say ...
Oh, kiss me and smile for me Tell me that you'll wait for me Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane I don't know when I'll be back again Oh, babe, I hate to go
But I'm leaving on a jet plane
– "I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane" by John Denver
When I was a little boy, my mom sang that to me and I thought she was serious. I started crying because I didn't know why she was leaving. All I knew was that I didn't want her to go.
Technique I took this picture while hiking in Yellowstone National Park, almost exactly a year ago. I had my camera out to take pictures of the wildflowers, and a jet went by overhead, so I took a picture of that, too.
The interesting lines textures are from a free wallpaper .psd that I downloaded some time ago, by ~archnophobia Apparently the wallpaper file gobbled up my camera info. No idea how to fix that.
And yeah, this was mainly just layering and using blend effects. That sort of thing.
