Inspiration
My family has 300 acres of property, some of which includes a young pine plantation. So we have a tradition of snowshoeing out into the forest together to find a Christmas tree.
This year was unfortunately a bit different: my brother wasn't here (but we are waiting for him to come home before we decorate the tree), and we went on my mom's new ATV. Which wasn't nearly as peaceful as snowshoeing, but it was neat because she just got that ATV and it was exciting.
My parents started hauling the Christmas tree home and my sister and I stayed back in the field and I took some pictures of her in the snow.
I called this "melting snow" because I think it's beautiful how her warm expression contrasts with the cold snow.
Technique
I used my telephoto lens and the smallest f-stop possible to get the background completely blurry. And the tree was meant to help frame her face and give it a bit of imbalance.
And I cut out the top of her head and her chin to fill the frame as much as possible.
