Description
Inspiration
I was boating with my family and we moored on an island for the night. I scoped out the island around noon to figure out the best place for shooting the sunset. I found a tree that I was planning on climbing because it had a good view with other islands facing in the western part of the lake.
However, the sun bright and fiery on a cloudless sky. No clouds = boring landscape shot, no? So instead, I wandered through sunbeams and crouched in poison ivy to take pictures of the sunset-sky behind the island plants.
Technique
Really loved using my 50mm that evening. I set it to f/1.8 and looked for small intricacies that I could isolate in the sunlit background of dappled leaves. For this shot, I tried to pick up the soft shadows of the ferns.
I don't really like the light spot in the middle of the frame. I tried to edit it out, and changed my mind because I thought it looked too artificial. Learning experience, neh!
