[real title: us & the sea]

Inspiration
10

maggie and milly and molly and may
went down to the beach(to play one day)

and maggie discovered a shell that sang
so sweetly she couldn't remember her troubles, and

milly befriended a stranded star
whose rays five languid fingers were;

and molly was chased by a horrible thing
which raced sideways while blowing bubbles:and

may came home with a smooth round stone
as small as a world and as large as alone.

For whatever we lose (like a you or a me)
it's always ourselves we find in the sea

maggie and milly and molly and mae by E. E. Cummings

I love the sea, the infinite horizon —
with the faint whisper of contact between water and sky like two distant lovers.

 Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.

Technique
This photo was taken at Cape Spear, Newfoundland, the most easterly point in North America. When I took it I was imagining reaching across the ocean to faraway land. The foreground of the lighthouse is meant to provide a contextual 'starting place' for the journey across the seven seas.

I edited this with several different filters, added a vignette and the text. The white text matches the white lighthouse and the line provides a sort of balance for the piece.

I would but you're just a lighthouse, I'm not sure the yacht would support us both.

!!!

This is what good art does – it speaks. I wasn't going to comment on any piece particularly, I was just browsing through thumbs, and then I saw this and it spoke.

I have so many memories of these colours – the blue of the sea, the grey rocks and the grass on the seacliffs – it's like seeing a piece of home through someone else's eyes. You have made me miss the sea, congratulations. :grump:

I love how the line after "with me" never ends. As a journey shouldn't.

I love the simplicity of it and the composition of the picture. Almost like the lighthouse is speaking the words, a beacon-message.

Where was this taken?

:D lovelovelove.
