Inspiration
C'est mon ami, Paul, à Gaspé.
Paul was a really, really cool guy. He had an ace fashion sense, SLR Nikon, brilliant blue eyes, terrible French and a bright smile. Oh, and look at his hair. Isn't it super? And yes, that is a feather.
It seemed that he always had a guitar with him.
And believe me, this guy could play. And his music wasn't anything I had heard before. It was ... unplaceable.
Technique
My favourite style of shooting people (with my camera
) is candid, by far. I feel like it captures the emotion and perfection of the moment way more powerfully than anything posed. See that smile up there? 100% genuine happiness.
I used my telephoto lens to take this, just waiting for the moment. He was looking down at something, then the person he was talking to said something and he looked up and laughed. Click. Moment captured forever.
